Five Convicted in 2012 Murder Receive Death Penalty

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo High Court on Monday (28) sentenced five individuals to death for their involvement in a murder that took place in 2012.

The verdict was delivered by High Court Judge Navaratne Marasinghe.

The defendants were found guilty of three charges, including the murder of a 21-year-old man using a blunt weapon.

During the time of the crime, two of the defendants were minors, aged 17 and 15.

Due to their ages, the judge sentenced these two individuals to life imprisonment instead of the death penalty.
