Election Commission Emphasizes Impartiality in Upcoming Poll

COLOMBO (News 1st); Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Rathnayake has called on the Sri Lanka Police and election officials to ensure fair and free elections.

In preparation for the upcoming elections, a training program was held at the Trincomalee District Secretariat to educate assistant returning officers and police officers on managing election-related conflicts.

During the event, Commissioner General Rathnayake emphasized the importance of impartiality and maintaining law and order, stating, "The primary responsibility for the election lies with us. Just as we manage election-related activities, it is crucial that those behind the scenes act impartially. People perceive an election as free and fair based on the impartiality shown by you in establishing law and order. We saw a more peaceful and free election during the last Elpitiya election, thanks to your proper execution of duties. Let's ensure the same for the upcoming local government elections."
