COLOMBO (News 1st): The Siri Dalada Vandana, which marks a very special religious and spiritual experience for Buddhists across the world, continues for its 5th consecutive day, today.

The veneration time was extended by an hour from yesterday, and will now commence daily at11.00 AM.

Following special religious observances for the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Temple of the Tooth Relic, the Siri Dalada Vandana, which begins at 11:00 AM, is scheduled to continue until 5:30 PM.

The Siri Dalada Vandana, which began on April 18th, offers devout Buddhists the opportunity to pay homage to the sacred relic for ten days, concluding on April 27th.

The Mahanayake Theros have requested that all devotees attend in white attire.

A large crowd of devotees from all corners of the island are already arriving in Kandy for the Siri Dalada Vandana.

Setting aside all differences, people have come together in unity to support the pilgrimage of devoted Buddhists who have journeyed to Kandy with heartfelt reverence and a singular purpose—to worship the Sacred Tooth Relic, undeterred by sun or rain.

Members of the Tri-Forces, Police, and other security divisions continue to work tirelessly each day, providing devotees with water and refreshments to ease their pilgrimage.

Special bus services have also been arranged to facilitate the return of worshippers who visited Kandy to venerate the Sacred Tooth Relic.

To accommodate the religious observances, several schools within Kandy have been closed from today until April 25.

Authorities said that if the exposition is extended beyond April 27, these closures will continue accordingly.

These schools are also being used to provide lodging for police and tri-forces personnel assigned to temple security, as well as temporary accommodation for elderly and differently-abled pilgrims.
