LG Polls: Over 1800 Complaints Reported

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lanka Police have so far seized 17 vehicles in connection with violations of election laws.

Additionally, 21 candidates and 70 supporters have been arrested for various offenses.

Authorities say 211 complaints have been received regarding violations of election laws and criminal activities linked to the local government elections.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has received 162 complaints in the past 24 hours alone, the majority of which relate to breaches of election law.

According to the National Election Commission, the total number of complaints reported since the announcement of the local government elections now stands at 1,874. 

Among these, nine complaints involve acts of violence.
