COLOMBO (News 1st); Former President Maithripala Sirisena has paid the Rs. 1 million compensation ordered by the Supreme Court following the annulment of the presidential pardon granted to Jude Shramantha Jayamaha, who was convicted in the Royal Park murder.
The Supreme Court session, presided over by Justices S. Thurairaja, Yasantha Kodagoda, and Janak de Silva, took place today.
During the session, Sirisena's legal team informed the court that the compensation had been paid.
Former President Sirisena was present in court as the judges reviewed the case. After considering the details, the court decided to release Sirisena from the case.
