32 Candidates Arrested for Election Law Violations

COLOMBO (News 1st); Since the announcement of the local government elections on March 3, a total of 32 candidates have been arrested for violating election laws. 

During this period, 137 supporters have also been taken into custody. 

The police have received 326 complaints related to election law violations, of which 86 are criminal in nature. 

In the past 24 hours alone, 13 new complaints have been filed regarding election law violations, according to police reports.
