378 COVID cases from Colombo on Friday (25); Surge in cases in Ratnapura compared to Thursday (24)

COLOMBO (News 1st); 1,876 COVID-19 cases were reported in Sri Lanka on Friday (25), confirmed Army Commander General Shavendra Silva.

According to the Department of Government Information 1,859 of these cases were from the Post-Avurudu Outbreak and 17 were those who tested positive for the coronavirus after returning from overseas.

The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said Colombo recorded the highest number of 378 cases in the past 24 hours while a surge in cases were reported from the Ratnapura District compared to the previous day.
