Homagama Industrial Zone fire contained; Locals urged to stay away until area declared safe

COLOMBO (News 1st); The massive fire that broke out at a paint factory at the Homagama Industrial Zone was doused early on Friday (18) morning.

Sri Lanka Police said the efforts to douse the fire by Thursday (17) night were crippled due to chemical combustion taking place from time to time. 

The fire brigade of the Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte Municipal Council with the assistance of Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Army and the Horana Fire Brigade doused the inferno on Friday (18) morning.

A total of six fire trucks were deployed for this operation.

Authorities urged locals to stay away from the area until it is declared safe to enter.
