COLOMBO (News 1st): The COVID-19 vaccination drive targeting the people in the high-risk zones of the Colombo municipality will be continue on Wednesday (Feb. 17) as well, health authorities said.
"The vaccination drive will target the people in Colombo-North today (17). Those between 30-60 years of age, who have been prioritized by the authorities are invited, to receive the vaccine," Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni, Chief Medical Officer for Health at the Colombo Municipal Council told News 1st on Wednesday (17).
Eeven if someone is above the age of 60-years they could still receive the vaccine, he further noted.
The Chief Medical Officer at CMC emphasized that the COVID-19 jab will first be administered to those in the high-risk zones where majority of the cases are reported.
According to Dr. Wijayamuni, 1028 people in Dematagoda and Wanathamulla areas that are identified as high-risk zones, received the COVISHIELD jab on Tuesday (Feb. 16).
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Vaccination drive for MPs and Prison officials will also continue today (17).
