COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka registered its highest daily tally of COVID-19 cases as 150 people tested positive for the virus on Wednesday (May 27).
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka has risen to 1,469, according to the latest figures published by the Epidemiology Unit at the Ministry of Health at 11:55 pm on Wednesday (May 27).
“Of the total 150 cases confirmed on Wednesday, 97 were Sri Lankans who returned from overseas, and the remaining 53 were Navy personnel,” said the Epidemiology Unit in its latest update on COVID-19.
On Tuesday (May 26), Sri Lanka recorded 137 COVID-19 cases, of which 127 were returnees from Kuwait and the remaining 10 were Navy personnel.
There are 727 active COVID-19 patients under medical care, as of 11:55 pm on Wednesday (May 27).
The total recoveries in the country stands at 732.
COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 10 people in the country.
