COLOMBO (News1st) : Police have arrested more than 13,000 curfew violators during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am on Sunday, as the country entered an island wide curfew.
Accordingly, more than 56,000 curfew violators have been arrested after curfew was imposed on March 20 to thwart the spread of the coronavirus, police said.
Meanwhile, more than 5200 vehicles were seized for travelling without a valid curfew permit during the last 24 hours.
This brings the total number of vehicles that have been seized since March 20 to 13,556.
The curfew, imposed countrywide, will be lifted in all districts of the country except for Colombo and Gampaha at 5 am on Monday.
