Police Deploy 75% of Officers at Churches for Security,

COLOMBO (News 1st): Police say that 75% of officers attached to police stations have been deployed to provide security at churches for Christmas Day.

Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler, says that 2,500 police officers have been deployed for church security in the Western Province.

Police urge the public to celebrate the festive season safely and peacefully. 

In addition, the Traffic Police Division says that 75,000 testing kits have been imported to check intoxicated drivers during the festive season and the New Year.

Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Traffic and Road Safety Division, W. P. J. Senadheera, says that these testing kits have been distributed to police stations across the island.
