Sampath Manamperi To Be Detained Until March 26

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sampath Manamperi will be held in detention until March 26 next year, following his appearance before Walasmulla Magistrate Malsha Kodithuwakku today.

At present, Sampath Manamperi remains in the custody of the Western Province North Crimes Investigation Division. 

He was arrested in connection with the possession of two containers containing crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’).

Meanwhile, Piyal Manamperi, who is already in prison over the same case, was also produced before court today.

The Magistrate ordered that he be kept in remand until January 7.

During the court proceedings, the Western Province North Crimes Investigation Division informed the Magistrate that police investigations into the incident are still ongoing.

According to statements made by Sampath Manamperi, authorities are conducting investigations to arrest several more individuals linked to the case, and this was officially communicated to the court.
