COLOMBO (News 1st) - WWE icon John Cena is set to step into the ring for the final time this weekend, bringing an end to one of the most successful careers in professional wrestling history.

Branded “The Last Time Is Now,” the tournament saw 16 top wrestlers compete for the chance to face Cena in his farewell bout.

The highly anticipated final match will take place on Saturday night in Washington, D.C., during WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Since making his WWE debut in 2002, Cena has spent more than 8,500 days in the spotlight, winning a record 17 world championships and becoming globally recognised for his signature “You Can’t See Me” gesture.

Beyond titles and catchphrases, his influence has reshaped the company both inside and outside the ring.

Despite criticism from sections of fans over his wrestling style, industry analysts widely credit him as a cornerstone of WWE’s success during its peak commercial years.

Brandon Thurston, editor and owner of wrestling business website Wrestlenomics, describes Cena as WWE’s most significant economic force between 2005 and 2015, citing his impact on television ratings, pay-per-view sales, live event attendance, and merchandise revenue.

Cena’s final match marks the end of an era for WWE, closing the chapter on a career that helped define modern professional wrestling and inspired a generation of fans worldwide.
