COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Transport and Highways says that steps are being taken to establish a management committee to oversee and streamline road development activities across the country.
The decision follows a recent discussion focused on addressing delays in the renovation and rehabilitation phases of ongoing road development projects.
The meeting highlighted the need for proper planning and efficient execution to ensure that all road-related projects, including expressways, are carried out as scheduled.
During the discussion, Minister Bimal Ratnayake emphasized the importance of better coordination with utility service providers—such as Ceylon Electricity Board, Telecom, and National Water Supply and Drainage Board, to prevent damage to roads when establishing service connections.
He also stressed the need to explore modern technological methods to support these improvements.
