Suspect Arrested After Police Seize Firearm From Car in Malabe

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A 9mm pistol and a bullet were seized from a car on Mulleriyawa Road in Malabe.

The discovery was made during an investigation into a road accident that occurred at the same location last night.

Authorities said that the driver was not present at the scene, leading to the seizure of the firearm and ammunition during an inspection.

The suspect later surrendered to the police and was arrested for failing to prevent an accident, driving under the influence, and possessing an unlicensed firearm.

The arrested individual is a 51-year-old resident of Angoda.
