Devinuwara Double Murder: Suspect Who Torched Van, Nabbed

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan Authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with the recent double homicide of two young men in Devinuwara, Matara in the South Of Sri Lanka.

The arrest was made during an operation conducted by the Matara Crime Investigation Bureau in the Gandara area.

The arrested individual, a 34-year-old resident of Devinuwara, is suspected of being involved in the destruction of the van believed to have been used by the perpetrators in the crime.

On the 21st of March, two men, aged 28 and 29, were fatally shot by assailants who arrived in a van while the victims were traveling on a motorcycle.

The torched van, believed to be the vehicle used in the shooting, was discovered abandoned near Wellamadama Junction on the 22nd.

This arrest brings the total number of suspects detained in connection to this case to five, including one woman. Investigations are ongoing.
