Parliament to Debate Key Regulations and Amendments This Week

COLOMBO (News 1st): A parliamentary debate on several regulations, including those under the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act, is scheduled to take place today.

The parliament will convene for this debate at 9:30 AM today, under the leadership of Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

Parliament sessions will continue this week until the 10th of January.

On the 9th of January, debates will be held on provisions under the Sri Lanka Export Development Act, Special Goods And Services Tax Act, and Welfare Benefits Act.

On Friday, January 10th, the entire day will be dedicated to expressing condolence motions for the late former Members of Parliament.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government says that the amended Provincial Council Election Bill will be presented in Parliament this week.

Minister Professor Chandana Abeyratne mentioned that the Bill has already been gazetted.
