Distribution Ahead Of Prez Poll Led To Red Rice Shortage

COLOMBO (News 1st); The country is currently facing a shortage of red rice, said Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Cooperative Development, Wasantha Samarasinghe.

Minister Samarasinghe explained that the shortage of red rice is primarily due to the distribution of 20 kilograms of rice, including red rice, to individuals who do not typically consume it, prior to the presidential election. 

This unexpected distribution has led to a depletion of red rice stocks.
