COLOMBO (News 1st); Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe appeared before the Court of Appeal today to assert his recent appointment within the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
In a revision application submitted to the Court of Appeal, the minister sought an order to suspend the injunction issued by the Colombo District Court, which had previously restrained him from assuming the role of Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
On behalf of the Minister of Justice, President’s Counsel Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa, President’s Counsel Dr. Romesh de Silva appeared in court to file this revision application.
The respondents named in this petition include Lasanta Alagiyawanna, Duminda Dissanayake, and Mahinda Amaraweera.
During the proceedings before Court of Appeal Judge D.N. Samarakoon, the respondents also made an appearance.
The Court of Appeal judge scheduled a hearing for the petition on May 2nd to deliberate on the factual aspects of the case.
