COLOMBO (News 1st): Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran says that a fundamental rights application was filed in the Supreme Court by eight prisoners against the actions of the former State Minister of Prisons Lohan Ratwatte at the Anuradhapura Prison.
MP M. A. Sumanthiran PC along with Attorney-at-Law Kesavan Sajanthan will appear on their behalf.
The FR was filed seeking a ruling that the Fundamental Rights of the prisoners were violated when State Minister Lohan Ratwatte visited the Anuradhapura Prison at 06:00 PM on the 12th of September and pointed a pistol towards them, after threatening them.
State Minister Lohan Ratwatte, The Superintendent of the Anuradhapura Prison, Commissioner General of Prisons, Minister of Justice, and the Attorney General were named as the respondents in the application.
