19-year-old arrested for posting fake content to create disharmony; Police

COLOMBO (News 1st); A 19-year-old male was arrested by the Gampola Police for posting fake information on social media to create disharmony among communities, said Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana on Thursday (29).

'The suspect was arrested in Kahatapitiya for spreading fake news via social media and the mobile device used to commit the offense was seized," said the Police Spokesperson. The arrest was made based on information provided by intelligence agencies, he added.
