COLOMBO (News1st): An archaeological land in Dharampalawa in Lahugala is facing destruction at the hands of thieves seeking artefacts and valuables.
Ruins at the site, that had drawn the attraction of ancient kings, indicate that two shrines had been built on the land in the past.
Three rock inscriptions can also be found in the area that is abundant in archaeological value.
Residents complain that the area is facing a tragic fate due to the failure of authorities to take steps for the conservation of such sites.
