'Vanithabhimana' competition held in Kandy

COLOMBO (News1st): Vanithabhimana 2020, a national level women's empowerment initiative commenced this morning in the Hill Capital of Kandy in the Central Province. This initiative aims at providing a platform for Small and Medium Scale women entrepreneurs in rural parts of SL to showcase their products and services. Today's inauguration was a resounding success with hundreds of women entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs attending the event. The event is organized by News 1st is and is supported by the National Development Bank (NDB). A competition was held in Kandy under the Vanithabhimana initiative. The winners of eight categories were recognized during the programme that is supported by the National Development Bank. This included Leadership, Environmental Management, Social Services, Sports, Education, Micro-Scale Entrepreneurship, Small-Scale Entrepreneurship, and Upcoming Entrepreneurs. "We are happy to see that the women of Sri Lanka are being taken to the global level," a participant at the programme told News1st. The eight winners of the Sri Lanka Wanitha Abhimana programme in the Central Province will qualify for the national event.
