CID opens probe into Blue Ocean condominium projects

COLOMBO (News1st): The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has opened a probe into the projects of local real estate company Blue Ocean, officials said. The probe had been launched in response to many complaints against the company, according to the CID. Several complaints were filed against the company for their failure to deliver on promises to construct luxury condominiums in Colombo and its suburbs, after collecting money from their customers. Notices were issued on two of the companies Directors to appear at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court after a customer filed legal action against the company. The investigations were launched after complaints were lodged at the authority, the general manager of the Condominium Management Authority J.C.N.D. Dissanayake said. He added that according to statutory provisions, the deed of the property must be handed over to the buyer within 18 months. He further added that legal action will be filed against companies that fail to meet these statutory requirements.
