Ministry of Environment To Set Up Local Committees For Forest Conservation

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Environment has decided to initiate a program to establish local committees aimed at protecting small forests located across the island.

These committees will consist of residents living near these forest areas.

Deputy Minister of Environment, Anton Jayakody said that the protection and maintenance of each small forest will be entrusted to these committees, which are expected to be established in the near future.
