School security councils to be established

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Principals across the island have been informed to establish security councils at their schools. Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Nihal Ranasinghe noted that all the instructions required to ensure the safety of school premises before commencing the second school term have already been issued. He added that assistance has been sought from the Secretary of Defence, Inspector General of Police and heads of security divisions, in this regard. The validity period of the Grade 1 uniform vouchers has been extended to May 31st due to the prevailing crisis islandwide.
