Officials ignore two day water leakage in Chilaw

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Supply of water to several regions of the island have been hindered due to the prevailing dry weather. Despite these dire circumstances, authorities turned a blind eye to a major water leak reported from Chilaw. A water pipeline from the Deduru Oya tank that belongs to the Water Supply and Drainage Board burst on the 13th of this month. It was reported that despite numerous complaints by residents the Water Supply and Drainage Board of Chilaw did not take the necessary steps to repair the leak. Clean water which could be used in both drinking and bathing was wasted.
