COLOMBO (News 1st) - An appeal was filed today (December 13) calling for the appeals, against the interim injunction order imposed by the Supreme Court against the Prime Ministership and the Cabinet, be taken up before a five-judge bench. The request was made through a motion submitted by Ranil Wickremesinghe and a few other groups. In the motion, Ranil Wickremesinghe states that he is making this request to ensure that equality and justice will be protected. This occurred after the court of appeal on the third of this month issued an interim injunction halting functions of Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister and the Cabinet Ministers. Meanwhile, the appeals filed by Mahinda Rajapaksa and 49 others will be considered before the supreme court tomorrow (December 14).
