Gnanasara Thero Fails to Appear,Court Issues Warrant

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Colombo High Court today issued a warrant for the arrest of Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), after he failed to appear before the open court in a case filed against him over an allegedly insulting statement directed at Islam.

The warrant was issued when the case against Gnanasara Thero was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Buddhika C. Ragala.

The case relates to allegations that the Bodu Bala Sena Secretary had made a statement deemed insulting to the Islamic faith.

When the matter was called before court today, Gnanasara Thero failed to appear before the court, prompting the High Court to issue a warrant for his arrest.
