Case Against Ranil Wickremesinghe and Former Presidential Secretary Recalled for November 11

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today ordered that the case filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake be recalled on November 11.

The Attorney General’s advice is expected to be presented to court on that date.

The case was filed over allegations that 16.6 million rupees in public funds were misused to facilitate a visit to England.

The case was taken up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today.

Senior State Counsel Samadhari Piyasena, appearing for the Attorney General, informed court that investigations had been completed and the relevant extracts had been forwarded to the Attorney General.

She requested that a date be set to inform court of the Attorney General’s position..

After considering the submissions, the Colombo Fort Magistrate ordered that the case be recalled on November 11 and directed the State Counsel to inform court of the Attorney General’s position on that date.
