Court Rejects Dilith's Petition Over Contempt Finding

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Court of Appeal today (30) dismissed, without hearing, a writ petition filed by Parliamentarian Dilith Jayaweera.

Jayaweera had filed the petition seeking an order to invalidate a finding made by the Colombo Fort Magistrate, who had concluded that the MP had committed contempt of court.

The Appeal Court’s determination was delivered by a three-judge bench comprising Court of Appeal President Rohantha Abeysuriya, Chamath Morais, and Adithya Patabendige.
