Organized Crime Figure Gampaha Baba Detained Until January 28

COLOMBO (News 1st): Dinesh Nishantha Kumara, alias Gampaha Baba, an organized crime figure and drug trafficker, has been remanded in custody until January 28.

He was brought back to Sri Lanka from Nepal, where he had been arrested while in the company of Ishara Sewwandi, a key suspect in the Gnanemulla Sanjeewa murder case.

Following his return, the suspect was questioned by the Peliyagoda Police, under a 90-day detention order.

According to Police, the suspect has been remanded in custody under orders issued by Colombo Additional Magistrate after being presented to court by the Kalutara Division Crime Investigation Department.

The group, including the suspect, was brought back to the country on October 15 from Nepal.
