13 Central Province Schools Remain Closed

COLOMBO(News1st); 13 schools in the Central Province remain closed.

This is due to the risk of landslides and the inconvenience caused by the broken roads.

Accordingly,
Medagama National School,
Al-Aqsa Muslim Vidyalaya,
Yatirawana Primary School,
Palle Deltota Junior College,
Berawila Primary School,
Meemure Primary School
Meemure Kaikawala College,
Kumbukgolla Primary School,
Lamliur Tamil College,
James Peiris Primary School,
Udawatte Primary School
Hanguranketha Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls' College and
Mettimbeya College will remain closed.

In the Sabaragamuwa Province, two schools have also been granted further holidays.

The Ministry of Education stated that all schools in the Uva Province that were damaged by the disaster were reopened today.

The first school term of 2026 began today.

Grade 1 studies will formally begin on the 29th.

Grade 6 studies will begin on the 21st.
