Five Killed After Consuming Illicit Liquor

COLOMBO (News 1st); A grim tragedy unfolded in Wennappuwa’s Thambaravila area as five individuals lost their lives after consuming illicit liquor. 

Police confirmed that two bodies were discovered inside a local tavern, while another was found about 50 meters away in a nearby house.

Three more individuals who had consumed the same brew at a nearby vehicle service center were rushed to hospital, but two of them succumbed. 

The victims include men aged between 29 and 60, according to police reports.

Four others remain in critical condition and are receiving treatment at Marawila Base Hospital. 

Police have arrested a 70-year-old woman on suspicion of selling the illicit alcohol.
