794 Arrested in Nationwide Anti-Drug Blitz

COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka’s ambitious anti-drug campaign continues to make waves as authorities confirmed the arrest of 794 suspects in the latest phase of the operation. 

Police revealed that during these raids, 589 grams of heroin and 706 grams of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) were seized.

The crackdown, which began on October 30, aims to dismantle drug networks, curb supply, reduce demand, and rehabilitate addicts through a multi-pronged approach. 

Among those arrested, 13 individuals have been directed to rehabilitation programs, while 16 suspects have been detained.

The operation is not limited to enforcement alone. It also focuses on community empowerment, awareness campaigns, and preventive programs to combat the widespread drug menace.
