COLOMBO (News 1st) - South-West monsoon conditions are gradually getting established over the island. Due to its impact, Showery conditions are expected to increase in the southwestern parts of the island during today (18) and the next few days.
Heavy falls above 100 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western, provinces and in Galle, Matara, Nuwara-Eliya and Kandy districts.
Further, The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota will be rough at times with strong gusty winds up to (50- 60) kmph.
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
