COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Transport and Highways has revealed that daily ticket fraud is costing the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) approximately Rs. 10 million in lost revenue.

Deputy Minister Dr. Prasanna Gunasena stated that a plan is being developed to address this issue urgently.

To combat ticket fraud, the ministry is considering implementing a system that allows passengers to pay for SLTB tickets using credit and debit cards.

Discussions have already been held to explore this option.

Despite the ongoing fraud, SLTB's daily revenue has exceeded Rs. 20 million.

On April 13th, the SLTB recorded an unprecedented revenue of Rs. 204 million, the highest in its history.

Deputy Minister Gunasena emphasized that maintaining this level of revenue is crucial and has instructed the SLTB management to ensure stability.
