COLOMBO (News 1st); The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has announced legal action against more than 1,200 retailers who violated consumer protection laws during the festive season.
The crackdown, which took place from March 25th to April 12th, targeted retailers across the country.
The CAA revealed that these retailers were prosecuted for various offenses, including selling goods at inflated prices, failing to display prices, and deceiving consumers.
In a notable instance, 25 retailers in the city of Kandy were charged for selling goods at excessively high prices.
