67,400 Pages of Evidence: CID Begins In-Depth Review of Easter Sunday Attack Report

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Acting Inspector General of Police has appointed several special teams to study the extensive report from the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.

This initiative is led by the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The study teams consist of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, the Director of the CID, and the Director of the Terror Investigation Division, among others.

Additionally, five sub-committees comprising Superintendents Of Police and assistant Superintendents Of Police have been formed to analyze the report.

The CID has disclosed that the Presidential Commission report on the Easter Sunday attacks spans over 67,400 pages, divided into five volumes and 87 books.

Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya has instructed these teams to conduct a thorough review and submit a detailed report.

The police have stated that any new findings not previously prosecuted will be forwarded to the Attorney General for further action.

Acting Inspector General Weerasooriya has also directed senior officials to provide separate reports on specific issues identified during the review.

Under the directive of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the Presidential Commission report was handed over to the CID last Sunday, marking a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the tragic events of Easter Sunday.
