Modi Ends Sri Lanka Visit After Joint Railway Launch

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Mahawa-Anuradhapura Railway signaling system and the modernized Mahawa–Omantha railway line were inaugurated this morning by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The project was carried out as a grant from the Indian government.

Earlier today , Prime Minister Modi paid homage to the Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. During his visit, he met with the Atamasthana Adhipathi, Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Thero, and held a cordial conversation.

Last evening, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake hosted a dinner in honour of the Indian Prime Minister, where both leaders exchanged remarks. The Indian Prime Minister thanked President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Sinhala during the event. 

Prime Minister Modi arrived in the country on Friday on a three-day state visit and departed this afternoon, concluding his visit.
