Student Leaders, 25 Others Released on Bail

COLOMBO (News 1st); Madushan Chandrajith, the convener of the Inter-University Student Federation, and the secretary of the Allied Health Sciences Graduates' Union have been remanded until the 4th of next month.

This occurred when they were presented before the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court this afternoon.

The other 25 students who were arrested have been released on bail.

They were arrested early this morning for engaging in a satyagraha in front of the Ministry of Health, violating a court order.

The students of the Allied Health Sciences Faculty of the University of Peradeniya started this satyagraha yesterday (27), protesting against the privatization of education.
