COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Dengue Control Unit has announced a special dengue eradication program to be implemented in eight districts from March 27 to 29.
This initiative aims to combat the rising threat of dengue due to intermittent rainfall.
The program will target 37 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas across the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Matale, and Matara.
Health officials will inspect homes, schools, workplaces, factories, religious sites, and public spaces to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.
The National Dengue Control Unit has highlighted the increased risk of dengue outbreaks due to the prevailing weather conditions. They urge the public to maintain clean surroundings to prevent mosquito breeding.
So far this year, 10,886 dengue cases have been reported. The health authorities are calling on the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to control the spread of dengue.
