COLOMBO (News 1st); The ongoing dry weather conditions has severely impacted 2,295 families, affecting a total of 12,308 individuals across the country, according to a statement released by the Disaster Management Center (DMC).
The districts of Ratnapura and Kalutara have been particularly hard hit by the dry weather conditions.
The DMC has assured the public that efforts to distribute drinking water to the affected populations are ongoing.
The extreme heat has led to a significant increase in water consumption, further straining the available water resources.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has urged the public to use water sparingly, especially for essential activities, due to the low water levels in reservoirs.
The NWSDB has also indicated that water supply in some areas may be under low pressure, and water will be supplied on a rotational basis to highland areas.
