Sri Lanka's Stance on the Economic and Technology Co-operation Agreement

COLOMBO (News 1st) - At a special media briefing on Friday (12), Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism Vijitha Herath, discussed the status of the Economic and Technology Co-operation Agreement (ETCA) with India.

He clarified that there are no immediate plans to sign or implement the ETCA following visits from Indian officials.

The Minister said Sri Lanka's core principle is that any agreement must not negatively impact the country's economy, and this will be a key consideration in future discussions.
