COLOMBO (News 1st) - The 3-day workshop series for MPs of the 10th Parliament of Sri Lanka, begins today (25).
Parliamentary General Secretary Kushani Rohanadheera says that the workshop is scheduled to be conducted from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm on all 3 days.
A group including Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya, Speaker Dr Ashoka Ranwala and the Parliament's General Secretary are set to attend the inauguration of this workshop series.
During the workshops spanning over 3 days, MPs will be made aware of their responsibilities as people's representatives in Parliament, Parliamentary privileges, the law-making process within Parliament, the procedures concerning Parliamentary Committees, Standing Orders of the Parliament and provisions of the Constitution of Sri Lanka, among other topics.
A practical session will also ensure that MPs are aware of how to cast their votes using the electronic vote-casting system in Parliament.
MPs will also be informed about the laws and procedures related to the establishment of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption through the Bribery Act, as well as the responsibilities of the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs.
