COLOMBO (News 1st): The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has mandated that Members of Parliament must declare their assets and liabilities within two years of their retirement.

This requirement is in line with the newly enacted Anti-Corruption Act.

The Commission announced that the initial report of these declarations is to be submitted to Parliament within two weeks.

Following this, former parliamentarians will have a two-year period to disclose their additional assets and liabilities.

Many former Members of Parliament have chosen not to contest in the upcoming general election.
