COLOMBO (News 1st): One of the 2 Sri Lankan peacekeeping officials who were injured in an Israeli attack on the headquarters of the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, has undergone surgery.
The Ministry of Defense says that both peacekeepers have been hospitalized, and are receiving treatment.
The Ministry adds that their condition is not serious.
125 Sri Lankan peacekeepers have been deployed in Lebanon.
The United Nations, European Union and many other international organizations have condemned the attack.
The United Nations even issued a warning to Israel, emphasizing that it will ensure the safety of all peacekeepers deployed to the region.
However, an investigation has been launched by Israel as well, regarding the attack on Friday.
