SLPP to Contest Parliamentary Election Under 'Pohottuwa' Symbol

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Member of Parliament D.V. Chanaka said that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will contest the upcoming parliamentary election under the "Pohottuwa" symbol.

Chanaka mentioned that the SLPP has already begun preparations for the election and has initiated discussions with allied parties. 

He noted that by the 5th, all candidates who have submitted their nominations will be called for interviews at the SLPP headquarters on Nelum Mawatha.

Chanaka emphasized that the party aims to select candidates who are educated, intelligent, and capable of addressing the country's economic issues, as well as those who are dedicated to the nation and their communities.

He expressed confidence in the party's strengthened strategy and the public's trust in their leadership, particularly in Namal Rajapaksa, whom he described as the country's sole hope for 2029.
