Galle Prison Leverages ZOOM for Court Appearances

COLOMBO (News 1st); In response to recent health concerns and to ensure the safety of inmates and prison staff, the Sri Lankan Prison Department has implemented a novel measure at the Galle Prison. 

Court appearances for inmates will now be conducted remotely via ZOOM video conferencing technology.

This announcement comes in the wake of a tragic incident, the death of an inmate from Galle Prison due to brain fever. Consequently, prison activities have been restricted to contain the spread of illness. Currently, eight inmates are receiving hospital treatment for fever-related symptoms.
